Suzanne Lenglen flies....Our Suzanne is ethereal, with her gold belt and headband, her pleated water-green dress by Jean Patou... The master Marcel Bouraine (1886-1948) may have captured her at the peak of her powers in Antwerp in 1920, when she shone at the Jeux de la reprise, winning gold medals in the women's singles and mixed doubles with Max Decugis. In women's doubles, she won bronze. Note the artist's delicacy, signing under the Divine's right foot. Question: slipper or espadrille?
