VICTORY OF SEBASTOPOL 10 September 1855. "News from CRIMINA. - Lot 506
VICTORY OF SEBASTOPOL 10 September 1855. "News from CRIMINA. Telegraphic dispatch from General PÉLISSIER, Crimea September 10, 1855, 11 p.m. "Today I have travelled through SÉBASTOPOL and its lines of defense. Thought cannot form an exact picture of our Victory, the inspection of which alone can give the full extent. The multiplicity of the defence works and the material means which were applied to them are far beyond what had been seen in the history of wars. The Capture of MALAKOFF, which forced the enemy to flee before our eagles, already three times victorious, placed, in the hands of the allies, immense material and establishments . Tomorrow, the allied troops will occupy KARABELNAYA and the city... The joy of our soldiers is great, and they are celebrating victory in their camp at the cry of Long Live the Emperor!" - Vignette to the thundering Imperial Eagle - Impr. Boucquin, 5 rue de la Sainte-Chapelle, Paris 1855 -
