James Kerr-Lawson (1862-1939), painter and lithographer: Two original lithographs: landscapes, perhaps Breton. Format 19 x 26 cm mounted under mat. Slight defects. When James Kerr-Lawson was three years old, his family emigrated from Fife to Hamilton, Ontario. He returned to Europe as an adult, eventually settling in London, England, but he has maintained links with the Canadian art community. Kerr-Lawson fought in the First World War, and in 1917 he was commissioned by the Canadian government to paint the ruined cities of Arras and Ypres. However, he was best known as a portrait and muralist.
