A very beautiful binding with the arms of the city of SARLAT in Guyenne: with a salamander on a brazier and charged with three gold fleurs-de-lis. Sarlat whose motto is: "Fidelis Dei and Regi", had adopted the emblem of Francis I only because the letter S, initial of his name was confused with the royal emblem on the seals (the Olive Tree). New edition, Augmented with their Historical Praise, & several Pieces that have not yet been printed. Paris, Chez les librairies associés, 1764. LX-248 pages. COMPLETE in itself. in12, (8 x 14 cm) Full marbled calf binding of the time. Smooth spines decorated with gilt fleurons in boxes and two title and tomaison pieces. An engraved portrait, in frontispiece, and numerous headbands. A good copy, well preserved bindings, light rubbing of use at the caps and corners. Fresh and clean interiors, without freckles. In good condition. Numerous rubbings on the jaws and missing head covers.
