HUGO Victor The Sea Workers. [3 Volumes] . Original French edition, complete in three volumes in-8. Beautiful series, copies covered with 3 good quality bindings of the period in red half-sagrin, spine ribbed and richly decorated with fine gilt irons. In very good condition. The novel is dedicated to the island of Guernsey and its inhabitants : "I dedicate this book to the rock of hospitality and freedom, to that corner of old Normandy where the noble little people of the sea live, to the island of Guernsey, severe and gentle, my present asylum, my probable tomb. "»— V. H. The great literary works of the exile gave rise, by the express will of Hugo, to split editions. One, printed in Paris, was intended for France, the other, published in Brussels by Lacroix, Verboeckhoven et Cie. was for abroad. In-8 of 14 x 22.5 cm Half red chagrin, ribbed back decorated with a rich decoration of fine golden irons and then percaline. ILLUSTRATIONS:Without Good copy, strong bindings. Fairly fresh and clean inside, clear freckles especially on the first pages and tables at the end.
