JACOBSEN (Jens Peter) Préface de Jacques de Lacratelle / tr - Lot 129
JACOBSEN (Jens Peter) Préface de Jacques de Lacratelle / traduction Sten Byelke et Sébastien Voirol Niels Lyhne is a novel by the Danish writer Jens Peter Jacobsen, published in 1880. It was first translated into French in 1928, with the subtitle Entre la vie et le rêve (Between Life and Dream), and develops a character who ends up embracing atheism and the tribulations he experiences in contemporary society. The narrative, written in the third person singular, relates the life of the character. He is a young poet in the making, an idealist and dreamer. The novel confronts Niels Lyhne's idealistic hopes with Darwin's theories. Anticlericalism plays an important part in it, littering the narrative with theological references and questions. After reading Niels Lyhne, Sigmund Freud will say of Jacobsen that he "moved him more than any other author read in the last nine years." (S. Freud, The Birth of Psychoanalysis, 8th edition, Letter to Wilhelm Fliess no. 31 of October 16, 1895, p. 114) With a Preface by Jacques de Lacratelle / translation Sten Byelke and Sébastien Voirol Paris: Imprimerie Nationale - André Sauret - Leblanc, 1956.
