Loti Pierre / Brissaud Pierre - Lot 164
Loti Pierre / Brissaud Pierre Ramuntcho. Pretty edition printed on vellum in the form of Bernard-Dumas stationery and illustrated with 23 illustrations (including 12 out of text) by Pierre Brissaud, stenciled by Beaufumé. A novel of love and adventure set in the midst of Basque smugglers, it is entitled the name of its main character, the young and handsome hero Ramuntcho. In spite of the character of his description of regional customs, in a framework inspired to the author by the discovery of his adopted land (Loti rented a house in Sare from 1893 onwards and died in Hendaye in 1923), this book has become an emblematic work of the Basque Country. Covered in a paperback and published in Paris, by Calmann-Lévy, in 1937. A well-preserved copy.
