Pierre Dumarchey, known as Pierre Mac Orlan, is a French writer, born on 26 February 1882 in Péronne and died on 27 June 1970 in Saint-Cyr-sur-Morin. Author of an abundant and varied body of work, he began by writing humorous tales, after having tried in vain to pursue a career in painting. After the First World War, his inspiration turned to fantasy and adventure novels. The last part of his literary career was devoted to writing songs, essays and memoirs.
