PONGE Francis - Lot 228
PONGE Francis Le Parti pris des choses is a collection of prose poems written by Francis Ponge and published in 1942. In Le Parti pris des choses, Ponge describes "things", elements of everyday life, deliberately chosen for their apparent banality. The purpose of the book is to give as accurate an account of objects as possible by expressing the physical qualities of the word. More simply, it wants to give an account of the beauty of everyday objects. He also embodies all the mistrust of his time. The expression "Object" was created by Francis Ponge. This word suitcase (contraction of the words: object and game) means: to play with the letters of a word (see Francis Ponge's The Gymnast for example). The author uses the objeu in each of the poems in the collection so the author denies the arbitrariness of the language. First edition on chestnut paper limited to 1350 copies, our unnumbered copy probably from Presse. Francis Ponge The biases of things Paris, Collection Métamorphose, NRF, Gallimard, 1942. First printing. 86 pages in-8, (14x19cm) Pinched. Exemplary in fairly good condition. Back pass. Rubbed caps and cracked back. Pages a little yellowed on the margins and without freckles.
