Henri Lebasque (1865 - 1937) La Terrasse de Sainte Maxime, c. 1914 Oil on canvas on panel Signed in bottom right On canvas Dimensions : 35 x 27 cm Presented in a beautiful golden frame : 49 x 42 cm INFORMATIONS : Study for the painting "Enfants sur la Terrasse de Sainte Maxime", presented by Henri Lebasque during the Salon d'Automne in 1914. During this Salon, Lebasque met great success with these two paintings: "Goûter des enfants sur la Terrasse de Sainte Maxime" (sold at Christie's in 2011 for over a million dollars) and "Jeunes filles et enfant sur la Terrasse de Sainte Maxime" (sold almost 500.000 dollars at Christie's in 2007). This oil on canvas is a study for both paintings. PROVENANCE : - Maurice Payen got it from the artist in 1920 - André Jouve and by descendants The final painting is part of the catalogue of works by Lebasque from Paul Vitry, (ed. Floury 1928), page 69 Excellent condition, slight defects on the edge of the canvas , small chips on the frame
