Lily Masson - Lot 281
Lily Masson The beach, 1975 Hand signed acrylic drawing and collage Original acrylic drawing and collage on paper measuring 22 x 27 cm. Hand signed and dated by the artist on the lower left. Very good condition, light handling marks and small holes in the corners.. Information: Born 1920 in Paris, Lily Masson grew up in an artistic environment, thanks to her father, the painter André Masson. Before she turned to painting in the 1960s she made illustrations for children's stories and poems. Encouraged by the painter Angelopoulos, she had a very unique view of her artistic environment. Fascinated by different materials, Masson's work is not limited to drawing and painting, both in watercolour and oil, but she also makes use of collage, for which she uses various materials such as sand, fabric and even feathers. Strongly inspired by nature and surrealism, Lily Masson's work is, in a way, an exercise for the imagination, a fabrication of the illusion of reality and the result of a thorough exploration of nature and materials.
