Cycling. Dozol/Leman/Isolated/1913/Le Havre. Cpa from Le Hav - Lot 77
Cycling. Dozol/Leman/Isolated/1913/Le Havre. Cpa from Le Havre sent by the isolated Lucien Leman (1881-1939) to a friend, from Le Havre, the end of the 1st stage of the Tour 1913 (388 km). This card has a double historical particularity: on the one hand, it bears the signature of the Parisian rider Leman, a user of Morteau's Pannetton cycles, and on the other hand, it is embellished with the great stamp of Marcel Dozol (1877-1918), a former rider from Cannes (32nd in the 1907 Tour), who had decided to take care of those left behind in the great loop. When he ran, he sold cards to support his second knife, when he passed on the other side of the fence, he continued to help the disinherited, his protégés. This long version of Dozol's stamp with the words "deshérités, vrais isolés and the date 1913", corresponding to the postal stamp, makes it a real document. All the more so as Leman, who finishes this first stage (race number 146, 101st out of 111, with 29 withdrawals, please), will also complete the 2nd stage (78th out of 101, 10 new withdrawals, 364 km), before giving up during the 3rd (405 km), like the cracks Lapize or Crupelandt and 14 other champions. The isolated riders were not necessarily losers, the proof, Leman had finished 21st out of 55 in the terrible Tour 1909 of Faber, and 30th out of 41 in the Tour 1910 of Lapize. Nice state. Very rare.
