DECORATION OF THE ORDER OF SAINT LOUIS. 1776. Letter signed by King LOUIS XVI (Secretary), countersigned Claude Louis de SAINT GERMAIN Maréchal de Camp, Secretary of State for War (1707 - 1778). Letter of notification of receipt from Louis Augustin DASTRUC DE VINTIMILLE to the dignity of Chevalier de SAINT LOUIS. He will have to take the Oath in front of the Marshal Duke of BIRON Colonel of the French Guards Regiment, and receive from him the embrace and the Cross which he must henceforth carry on your stomach, tied with a small fire-coloured ribbon. Written from VERSAILLES (Château de) on 23rd November 1776. 1p large folio. (All the Decorations of Saint Louis had to be destroyed during the Revolution).
