MORICE (Charles) and GAUGUIN (Paul): Noa Noa. Editions de la - Lot 216
MORICE (Charles) and GAUGUIN (Paul): Noa Noa. Editions de la Plume, s.d. (1901). ORIGINAL EDITION, without large papers and without fictitious mention of edition. Beautiful AUTOGRAPHIC SENDING signed to Madame Léon Dusouchet; a LAS to Léon Dusouchet and his wife is enclosed. Noa Noa was written by Gauguin in 1893 after his first trip to Tahiti. Close to Morice since his meeting in Armand Seguin's studio, Gauguin asked him to revise the manuscript. The text was first published in the Revue Blanche in 1897, then not finding a publisher, Morice edited it himself and deposited it on the rue Bonaparte at the Editions de la Plume. Beautiful provenance : Painter, sculptor, illustrator, and engraver, Dusouchet was born in Versailles. He trained at the Decorative Arts and is the author of many religious or mythological decorations. He also put his talent at the service of social and religious works to create decorations in the tradition of Maurice Denis and the Sacred Art workshops. Member of the Salon d'Automne and the Independents, Pierre Léon DUSOUCHET is also the author of mural paintings.
