EMPIRE. 1809. Marshal MONCEY, Duke of CONEGLIANO. Private letter signed "The Marshal Duke of CONEGLIANO, First Inspector-general of the IMPERIAL GENDARMERIE (Header). PARIS April 28, 1809, addressed to Mr Gilbert BOUCHET Substitute of the Imperial Prosecutor of Florence in AREZZO, Department of the ARNO, which informs him of the good spirit and the zeal that Mr De La TOUR Lieutenant of Gendarmerie in Arezzo brings in the exercise of his functions. Subscription of 8 lines of Marshal MONCEY: "Mr. BOUCHER, I saw your father two days ago, he was well; both of us have pleasure to speak about you, and I have much satisfaction to see you honouring in French Italy the masterly functions which are entrusted to you; We had so many Frenchmen there who pushed away confidence instead of ordering it!
