WINE BROKERS of the Elections of ORLÉANS (45) & BEAUGENCY - From the King LOUIS XIV, Order of André JUBERT DE BOUVILLE, knight, Marquis of BIZY & of CLERE PANILLEUZE, Councillor of State & Intendant in the Generality of Orleans - Done in ORLÉANS (45) on January 29, 1700 "The King being informed of the considerable sums that several persons calling themselves Commissionary Brokers, collected from all the Wines which were sold in the Parishes of Vineyard. In 1691, he deemed it appropriate to establish them as an Office, and to fix the fees they could charge for each barrel of wine, and the Elections of ORLÉANS and BEAUGENCY, wishing to free themselves from this Right, appealed to His Majesty, who was willing to grant them the suppression of the said Offices by paying the sum of 78,000 Livres....
