Armand Thomas HUE de MIROMESNIL, Magistrate, Keeper of the Seals of Louis XVI (Castle of Latingy/ Loiret 1723 - Castle of Miromesnil (76) 1796), Protector of the Men of Letters. 2 Letters signed and 1 Printed : Letter signed " MIROMESNIL ", Versailles September 3, 1774, to the Count of MAILLAC. He thanks him for his Compliment. "I do not doubt its sincerity, do not doubt either the pleasure I would have if the grace with which the King honoured me put me within reach of giving you proofs of the feelings with which I am, Sir, very perfectly attached to you. (He has just been appointed Keeper of the Seals of France) + the printed Minutes of the Session held at the Court of Aides on November 12, 1774, "bearing creation of the Charge of Keeper of the Seals of France in favor of the Sieur de MIROMÉNIL." Printed 40 pp in-4° + Letter signed " MIROMESNIL ",PARIS February 10, 1786, to the Abbé DUCREUX, Author of the Christian Centuries, which Censures it: " I learn, Sir, that you propose to join the Ecclesiastical History of the 18th Century to the new edition of the Christian Centuries which you will give. The intention of the King (Louis XVI) is that no one should write about these kinds of matters, which cannot be made public without violating the law of silence that His Majesty wishes to maintain with all his power. You are too wise and too good a citizen, Sir, not to make it your duty to comply with it..."
