Nicolas Bernard RAGGI, Statuary naturalized French in 1828. - Lot 336
Nicolas Bernard RAGGI, Statuary naturalized French in 1828. (Carrara/Italy 1790 - Paris 1862) - Letter A.S. PARIS the 14 March 1825 - to Mr LAVOINE Architect of the public works, 25 street of the Bons-Enfants in Paris - 1p in-4°. "I thank you for the eagerness that you put to announce me that the workshop N°2 of the Quai d'ORSAY will be put at my disposal ". He asks him to make a report to the director, and to let him know the bad state in which it is. "You must have noticed that the cold penetrates from all sides, and without a suitable repair, I will find myself next winter to see frozen my model, and lose the fruit of two years of work. If there were also a way to make a frame through the roof, I would probably find myself illuminated. In the present state the head of my figure will protrude more than a foot above the crosspieces... a week's delay, from the modesty of the time allowed me for this work will do me much harm."
