Baron Jacques LAFFITTE (1767/1844) Banker, politician. Letter signed addressed to Count BERTRAND, relating to the succession of the Emperor NAPOLEON 1st. Paris July 18, 1830, 1p in-4°. He acknowledges receipt of new observations which he transmitted to his associates who, themselves, rely on their lawyer, Mr Persil. "Please do not doubt all the eagerness they will put into examining your note of today, and all the efforts they are making to finish, to our common satisfaction, the discussion pending between us...". In his will, Napoleon had acknowledged that he was indebted to Count BERTRAND for "considerable" sums, and had requested their repayment from funds placed with Mr. LAFFITTE
