BUGEAUD Thomas Robert (1784-1849) Marshal of France, Duke of Isly. Autograph letter signed, ALGIERS, April 24, 1842. 1p in-8°, on the back of a double sheet of paper with the heading "General Government of Algeria". He is then Governor General of Algeria. He invites Mr. Dussaillant to present himself to the Director of the Interior to obtain "some help in materials to repair or build his house, in Coleah". Sent to Algeria in June 1836 to fight Abd el-Kader and to lead a campaign called pacification, Bugeaud was appointed Governor General of Algeria in 1840.
