Odilon BARROT, Deputy of EURE, President of the Council in 1848/1849 (Villefort/ Lozère 1791 - Bougival (78) 1873). Draft of autograph letter signed and 1 Lithography : Draft of his letter of resignation as Prefect of the Seine, that he will address to the King LOUIS-PHILIPPE 1st, made in Paris on December 28, 1830. 1p in-folio. Barrot reminds the King that it is only by devotion that he accepted this function and that one made him hope "that (his) mission would not last longer than the need which motivated it". He added: "I believe that the time has come for me to return to my usual work. Your Majesty's Government has seen its strength, it no longer needs a politician in the town hall, a good administrator will suffice.... " (Appointed Prefect on August 30, 1830, Barrot had also been elected Deputy of EURE. The King refused this resignation but Barrot finally left his post in October.
