NASA. This mosaic of two photographs of the rings of the pla - Lot 148
NASA. This mosaic of two photographs of the rings of the planet Saturn was taken on November 6, 1980 at a distance of 8 million kilometers from the star by the VOYAGER 1 probe. Scientists can count 95 individual rings showing an extraordinarily complex structure. The structure of Saturn's rings is produced by the interaction between Saturn's satellites and the orbit of the ring particles. Saturn's 14th satellite at top left appears on the edge of a ring. The VOYAGER 1 and VOYAGER 2 missions have r&volutionized at the end of the 70's the human knowledge of the terrestrial solar system by realizing extraordinary photographs of its most impressive planets of which Saturn and Jupiter never, until then, approached by the human eye in their spatial reality. Vintage silver print. Legend in the margin on the front and references on the back. 25,4 x 20,2CM with margins.
