BOKASSA 1st - Jean-Bedel Bokassa (1921-1996), Emperor of Central Africa from December 1976 to September 1979 : Gift offered to the distinguished guests of his coronation on December 5, 1977 : Replica in gold cast iron of his throne (height 24 cm, span 39 cm). Like the original throne, it was made by a foundry in Gisors, France, on a model created by Olivier Brice. Attached is the December 16, 1977 issue of Jour de France with a report on the coronation. It is one of the rare large model sculptures, weighing more than 7 kg, those that were offered to the guests were of much smaller scale and weighed about 1 kg."
