Joseph FLEURIAU D'ARMENONVILLE (1661 - Château de Madrid 1728) Financier, Magistrate, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs then of the Navy under the regency and Keeper of the Seals of Louis XV. Letter signed "D'ARMENOUVILLE" from Versailles 6 July 1722, to the Bishop of GAP. 2pp in-folio, reduced margins: "Monsieur. His Royal Highness the Duke of Orleans having been informed that for some time one has been very lax about signing the form prescribed for the Declarations of the late King of April 1664 and 1665, has ordered me to mark his intention to you and without excepting anyone, you give me your visa. You do not allow any benefice to be taken in your diocese and you do not grant it to anyone until the form has been signed purely and simply without any restriction. I request the same of all the Archbishops and Bishops of my Department by order of His Royal Highness."
