LA BASTILLE: BOOK COPYED in the XVIII°, Manuscript of 206 pp in-4°, having for Title: "Extract of various fragments of the FRENCH INQUISITION OR HISTORY OF THE BASTILLE by M. Constantin DE RENNEVILLE - in Amsterdam at Balthazar Lakerman, in Leide at Jean and Herm Verbeek 1724. RENNEVILLE (René Auguste Constantin DE) Caen 1650 - Hesse 1723 - French writer, Musketeer, Director of the aids and domains in CARENTAN. Around 1699, wanting to freely profess the Reformed religion, he retired to Holland. He returned to France in 1702. His enemies succeeded in passing him off as a Dutch spy. As soon as he was kidnapped, he was thrown into the BASTILLE, from which he was only released in 1713, thanks to the intervention of Queen ANNE.
