DORDOGNE. Marquis of BEAUMONT. Autograph letter signed by the Marquis of BEAUMONT, STE FOY sur Dordogne 22 December 1786. 4pp in-8°: "Monsieur. I have read with attention the decree of the Council which orders the trial for three years of the Conversion into Corvée in a money benefit. Every good Frenchman must see, in this wise provision, with the greatest gratitude, the care which the King gives to the happiness of his people, which cannot be better characterized, than by the invitation which His Majesty makes, to warn of the inconveniences which this new operation can experience... The Land, which I live in is situated in Périgord, and confronts with the Agenois. In Périgord, my settler is taxed for a Domain, which I have, for accessory size and capitation of 150 Livres..."
