DEPARTURE OF KING CHARLES X, at CHERBOURG. (MANCHE). Placard - Lot 469
DEPARTURE OF KING CHARLES X, at CHERBOURG. (MANCHE). Placard made ST-LO on August 18, 1830. Order of the day signed of the Marshal Marquis MAISON, De SHONEN and ODILON-BARROT. "MM. the Commissioners delegated to accompany King Charles X and his family to Cherbourg feel the need, at the time when their mission has just ended, to give testimony of the loyal and honorable conduct which MM. the Bodyguards held in this serious circumstance. Called upon to fulfill a duty of honor and loyalty, they were able to perfectly reconcile the demands of this duty with the respect due to the established government. MM. Les Commissaires are pleased to declare that it is to this feeling of reserve and propriety that they owe in great part to have happily accomplished a mission whose outcome was so important to the honor of France." Printed in ST LO, by the Widow GOMONT. (36,5 x 23,5 cm). Condition B
