NASA. LARGE FORMAT. This magnetic image from the HUBBLE spac - Lot 278
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. This magnetic image from the HUBBLE space telescope shows a golden globular cluster located in the Large Magellanic Cloud in the Swordfish Cosntellation. The most striking feature of this globular cluster is the sparkling ruby red spot in the lower left of the cluster centre (on the right side of the image). What looks like the cluster's watchful eye is actually a carbon star. Carbon stars are almost always cold red giants, with atmospheres containing more carbon than oxygen - the opposite of the Sun. Carbon monoxide is formed in the outer layer of the star by a combination of these elements, until no more oxygen is available. Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin on the front. Legend on label on the back. 40.6 x 40.6CM with margins.
