[FEMINISM] NIBOYET Eugénie (1796-1883) writer and journalist - Lot 62
[FEMINISM] NIBOYET Eugénie (1796-1883) writer and journalist, militant of women's rights, figure of feminism. LAS of 2 pages in-folio dated Paris March 30, 1852, addressed to the Minister of the Interior (the Duke of Persigny): Long and important letter of complaint to the minister for the assignment of her son: "...I would like my son to be placed in Paris in an office, wishes him a sub-prefecture; one or the other of these two things depends on you!"She justifies this request by the emeritus services rendered to the Empire by the members of her family, services which she details at length... She does not claim anything for herself..."...I leave injustice to those who commit it and, in spite of my rights, I do not claim anything for myself...". / "...I preferred not to owe anything to favour because I expect everything from your justice, Mr. Minister; it depends on you to justify my confidence or to lead me to believe that merit is not enough for applicants to be placed!..." Eugénie NIBOYET is a great figure of French feminism. In 1848 she founded and directed "La Voix des Femmes", the first French feminist daily newspaper. "La Voix des Femmes" soon joined a political club in which many feminists participated. Beautiful and moving letter.
