[HARAUCOURT (Edmond): l'Âme Nue. Paris, Charpentier & Cie, publishers 1885. In-12 half-brown cloth of the period, cover preserved, 278 pages (slight foxing). First edition. Second work of the author after the sulphurous "Légende des sexes, poèmes hystériques et profanes", published under the pseudonym of "Sire de Chambley" in 1882. The Naked Soul is a book divided into two parts: The inner life & The outer life. The first part includes: Laws, Cults, Forms; the second: Dawn, Noon, Evening. All or almost all the poems of this collection are dedicated to famous authors such as Guy de Maupassant, Sainte-Beuve, Leconte de Lisle, François Coppée, Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly, Octave Uzanne, Félicien Rops, etc... The first poetic works of Edmond Haraucourt are sought after today. Precious copy enriched with this letter : " To Emmanuel Chabrier very kindly ". Emmanuel Chabrier was a French composer born on January 18, 1841 in Ambert (Puy-de-Dôme) and died on September 13, 1894 in Paris 1. He is the author of orchestral works like España or his Joyeuse Marche. He was also the composer of several operas, including the opéra bouffe L'Étoile and Gwendoline (whose overture has remained in the orchestral repertoire). But Chabrier was also the author of pieces for piano (including his Bourrée fantasque) and melodies for voice and piano (including his famous bestiary of 1889). His creations were admired by many composers such as Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Erik Satie, Richard Strauss, Igor Stravinsky and Darius Milhaud.
