Philippe CRESPIN DU BEC (1519-1605) Bishop of VANNES (1559-1566), Bishop of NANTES (1566-1594) and Archbishop of REIMS (1594-1605). Master of the Chapel of the King and Commander of the Order of the Holy Spirit. He was the second son of Charles du Bec, Lord of Bourri and Vardes, Vice Admiral of France. He attended the Council of Trent. L.A.S. as Bishop of NANTES, to the Apostolic Nuncio; NANTES (44) March 19, 1582. 1p in-folio. Stamp. Tear removing two lines of text. He addresses to him Sieur Guillemyer to confer with him about the deanery of Nantes. He would like to follow in this point the example of the Cardinals of Lorraine and Créqui his predecessors; moreover he conferred with the Cardinal of Bourbon.
