ANJOU. 1790. Jean François RICHE, Deputy of the Third Estate - Lot 171
ANJOU. 1790. Jean François RICHE, Deputy of the Third Estate for ANJOU at the Estates-General of 1789, Judge of the Commercial Court of ANGERS. (Born in Angers in 1736). Autograph letter signed "RICHE" Rue St Thomas du Louvre, N°50, addressed to Mr BARET, Rue St Michel in Angers. 3pp in-8°: "I have informed the Constitution Committee of your letter, Sir, but they have not yet given a definitive answer. It is quite true that the venality of the offices being suppressed, the clerkships are confused in the suppression with the other offices of the judiciary. The new clerks will be salaried by the Nation, and they will have only a third of the salary of a judge. This is the reason which made me fear for your claim... I would never have imagined that the Revolution would have been as prejudicial to you as you tell me, ... I therefore had every reason to believe that the reimbursement which must be made to you would be advantageous by placing it in acquisitions of National Goods, you have at your disposal the domains of the Perré Neuf which must suit you well... I embrace your children... "
