Cycling / Rennes / Huret / Poster. Superb lithograph to anno - Lot 129
Cycling / Rennes / Huret / Poster. Superb lithograph to announce the cycling races on track organized on July 22, 1894, by the Véloce Club Rennais founded in 1869. For the needs of this great festive meeting (6h cycling, veterans races, foot races) on the velodrome of Rennes, the poster was overloaded by an important typography. One guesses the urgent need of a strong hype, of a relaunch. In any case, in terms of participation, the meeting was worth the trip, because the best champions were there. The proof is the immense Constant Huret (1870-1951), who will fly over these 6 Hours, covering 191km870. He was ahead of Starbuck, William Martin, another great 6 days runner, and the Allard brothers from Arles, who had made a specialty of triumphing in the great Breton road races, in Rennes, as in Nantes. Museum piece. The image of the velodrome of Th.Rauch young remains visible... We see the track, the three champions in full effort, the judge at the arrival, the flags of festival. With tax stamp. Imprimerie des Arts et Manufacture, 3 place de la Halle aux Blés, Rennes. 60X80. Wrapped in cloth. BE. That year, Constant also won the first of his 4 gold bowls over 24 hours.
