Olympic Games/Summer, Berlin, 1936/Torch. The first official - Lot 259
Olympic Games/Summer, Berlin, 1936/Torch. The first official torch designed by Karl Diem came out of the Krupp Nirosta V 2A/Stahl workshops, Essen, and still surprises by its elegance, its sobriety. On its handle, we note the route from Olympia to Berlin, via Athens, Salonika, Belgrade, Budapest, Wien, Prague, and Dresden (3075 km in 12 days). Steel. H: 27cm, diam high (hearth): 15,5, low (handle) 8,5. Traces of friction inside the hearth probably due to its use. Curiosity, the official report mentions 3 840 torches, and the archives of the Krupp factory only 3 639. BE
