OLYMPIC GAMES. London 1948. Art competition. Prouteau. Book - Lot 262
OLYMPIC GAMES. London 1948. Art competition. Prouteau. Book : "Rythmes du stade" by Gilbert Prouteau (1917-2012), a nice copy of this collection awarded by the GP de Littérature Sportive when it was published in 1942. With important dedication in 1944. The Vendéen Gilbert Prouteau was a happy artistic and cultural jack-of-all-trades, but also an excellent triple jumper (vice champion of France in 1939). Writer, novelist, lecturer, film-maker, it is perhaps in poetry, that he was at the top of his art, in particular with this small volume, bronze medal of the Olympic poetry contest of the London Games, the last of the history. Alas. 86 pages. Rare. Is it necessary to specify that this fabulous competition touching all the arts was also initiated by the baron de Coubertin (1863-1937) and that it functioned between 1912 and 1948.
