Gaspard MONGE, Comte de Péluse, (Beaune 1746 - 1818 in Paris, is a French mathematician. He played a great role in the French Revolution, both from the political point of view and from the point of view of the establishment of a new educational system: he participated in the creation of the École normale of the year III and of the École polytechnique (in 1794), two schools where he taught geometry. He also participated with Berthollet, Chaptal and Laplace in the creation of the École d'arts et métiers. He was also a member of the commission of sciences and arts during the Italian campaign (1796-1797), and was in charge of the Egyptian expedition (1798-1799). On December 12, 1989, his ashes were transferred to the Pantheon - Letter signed "MONGE" on the letterhead of "l'Administration des Monnaies" - Paris 23 Pluviôse year 13 (February 12, 1805) - He asks for the travel certificates - 1p in-4°.
