NASA. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE TELESCOPE. Magnificent perfect vi - Lot 215
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE TELESCOPE. Magnificent perfect view of a spiral galaxy. At the heart of the galaxy's large spiral structure is an extraordinary and distinct spiral structure about 3,300 light-years (1 kiloparsec) long. Only galaxies with large-scale bars appear to have these large-drawn internal disks - a spiral within a spiral. Models suggest that gas from a bar may be channeled inward, then spiral into the center through the large-drawing disk, where it can potentially power a central black hole. However, this galaxy is not known to have an active core, indicating either that there is no black hole or that it is not accreting matter. The image was constructed from exposures taken in September 2004 by the Advanced Camera for Surveys aboard Hubble in four filters. Starlight and dust are visible in the blue, visible and infrared. Bright star clusters are highlighted in red by the associated emission of glowing hydrogen gas. Due to the large size of the galaxy, two adjacent points of the telescope were needed to cover the extent of the spiral arms. The galaxy is about 69 million light years (21 megaparsecs) away in the direction of the constellation Eridanus. 2004.Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin on the front. Legend on label on the back. 50,8 X 60,9CM with margins.
