Nasa. LARGE FORMAT. This galaxy captured by the HUBBLE teles - Lot 254
Nasa. LARGE FORMAT. This galaxy captured by the HUBBLE telescope appears to be the subject of a beautiful photographic painting. Its dark dusty lanes and bright, diffuse glow give the galaxy the appearance of a halo in the void of space. If this galaxy paints a picture of serenity, the galaxy is actually quite the opposite. It is one of the brightest lenticular galaxies known, a category that falls somewhere between spirals and ellipticals. It has hosted two known supernova explosions, one in 1969 and one in 1994, and is known to have a colossal supermassive black hole at its center that has the mass of 450 million Suns. 2014.Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering on front. Legend on label on back. 40.6 x 40.6cm with margins.
