Jean TINGUELY (1925-1991) - Lot 293
Jean TINGUELY (1925-1991) Constant undetermined, 1964 Sculpture made of black lacquered steel, electric motor and feathers Signed and numbered 17/100 on a label on the back Edition MAT, Collection 6 In working condition 45 x 21 cm Bibliography: Katarina Vatsella, Edition MAT: Daniel Spoerri, Karl Gerstner and the Multiple, Die Entehung e Kunstform, Bremen, 1998, p. 248-249 A clamp on the axis of a 110 and 220 volt motor allows for the effortless changing of various elements, which the viewer can manipulate as desired. Thanks to the very fast rotation of the chosen element around its axis, the spectator becomes the creator of a dematerialized volume (cf. Vatsella). In this case, the three colored feathers were placed, according to the publisher, by Daniel Spoerri. Provenance: sale June 5-11, 2012, lot 2328, Auktionshaus Kaupp GmbH, Salzburg
