Nasa. View of the lunar surface by the Ranger IX probe before its impact on the lunar surface on March 24, 1965. The altitude of the shot is approximately 258 miles. We can see on the right of the photograph in the lower part the lunar crater "Alphonsus". On the upper part of the picture the big crater is "Alpatragius" with a mountain in its center. The Ranger IX probe completes the "Ranger" program which allowed man to collect the first close-up views of the lunar surface. Nasa logo and caption on the back. 25,4 x 20,5 with margins.
