Camille Louis de LORRAINE, known as the Prince de MARSAN (1725-1780) Cousin of Queen Marie-Antoinette, Governor of Provence from 1770 to 1780. Letter A.S. of 1772, to Mr de BOYNES. He intervenes in favor of the LONGPRÉ, Councillors in the former Council of PORT AU PRINCE (Saint-Domingue). "You will judge by the letter of Mr. de Longpré; After having been one year in prison in France, having suffered considerable losses caused by such a precipitous departure and such a long distance from his property, these gentlemen see themselves deprived of their office but hope at least to live quietly at home. Not at all, Mr. d'ARGOUT commander of the Southern part, sworn enemy of the Council, does the impossible to obtain from the General the order to have these Gentlemen join the Militia as Soldiers...
