Baron Édouard MOUNIER (Grenoble 1784 - 1843) Secretary of the Cabinet of NAPOLÉON 1ER in 1809, he rallied to LOUIS XVIII, in 1818 he was appointed Director of the Police and Peer of France in 1819. Letter A.S., August 13, 1818, addressed to Baron FAIN, at La Fontaine Brétigny, Par Linas, Seine et Oise. 2pp in-4°. Long letter concerning the son of his correspondent who is going to enter the administration: "I wrote to RUMIGNY (probably the General) to urge him to prick the new King with honor in favor of his former comrades; but we will do well not to hope for anything, generosity is easier to profess than to exercise...". Attached an autograph draft of Baron FAIN, 2 pages small in-8°, dated August 10, 1818, in which he says in particular about his son: "... Put him wherever you want, in the offices of the buildings, in your commissions... "
