Émile SOUVESTRE, Breton writer (Morlaix (29) 1806 - Paris 18 - Lot 393
Émile SOUVESTRE, Breton writer (Morlaix (29) 1806 - Paris 1854). Letter A.S. of May 20, 1850. 2 pages in-8°. "My dear Ariste. In July there will be an exhibition of paintings at the National Palace, for the benefit of the Lottery of St Cloud. Many of our most eminent artists have positively promised to send their paintings there. As this is a means of producing one's work, I thought it might be pleasant for you (as it would be for the public and for us) to see one or more of your paintings there. Please be so kind as to let me know if you will agree to lend one of your paintings, drawings, or anything else you have for this exhibition... If there is anyone among your friends who would like to enrich our exhibition, please talk to them; an appeal is made to all talents. We will have paintings by SCHEFFER, INGRES, ... ".
