AGEN - Agenais - MARIE de RAYMOND (countess) 1835-1895. Album in-folio, period half-basane, spine with ornamented nerves (spidermoor and small defects). Important collection of drawings and prints that belonged to the Countess Marie de Raymond. "Marie de Raymond was the intellectual queen of the whole region" according to M.Tamizey de la Roque. Marie de Raymond, daughter of the mayor of Agen, was at the same time a woman of the world, animating her literary salon, spending her time in genealogical research or shuffling old papers, while being a canoness of the order of Saint Anne of Munich. This collection contains, in the order of the documents placed in this album: 1/ heraldic table of the emblems and alliances of the Raymonds of Agenais...manuscript probably in the hand of the countess; 2/Large ink wash drawing, unsigned, 21 x 29 cm; 3/original pencil drawing captioned "Mr. Tourelle master of music in Agen"; 4/View of the Wartbonn; 5/two lithographs of Marie de Coquet; 6/a pencil drawing of a young woman; 6/5 miscellaneous old engravings; 7/a signed old drawing (?); 8/ two sheets presenting caricatures, pencil drawings by Marie de Raymond (one signed); 9/ a large charcoal drawing signed Lalanne, 25 x 42 cm (country landscape); 10/ three sheets presenting engravings of animals by Dujardin and Potter, 21 x 26 cm; 11/ a large watercolor, unsigned, representing a musketeer, 27,5 x 29 cm; 12/ a large drawing signed and captioned: "study from life of a deaf and dumb man, in Drôme on August 24" signature difficult to decipher..28,5 x 22 cm; 13/a series of 5 pencil drawings, various sizes, probably by the hand of the Countess Marie de raymond; 14/a pencil drawing representing a young woman embroidering, signed J. Naisac (?) Luchon 1849, 22 x 26 cm; 15/A series of 9 sheets covered with drawings by the hand of the Countess Marie de Raymond, of which one signed and dated 1849, various sizes: characters of which caricatures; 16/series of 7 original drawings by the hand of the Countess Marie de Raymond of which 2 large: Adam in Paris, dated July 3, 1849 and signed, 22 x 25 cm and Lessons of drawing to the prefecture in 1851 with the name of the represented women quoted (of which Marie de Raymond). 17/ two original drawings in pencil on a loose leaf, with handwritten mention "drawing made by Pierre de Montesquieu (it seems to us...); Finally one finds a set of various engravings stuck on the pages of the album.
