LOUIS XVI / Printed cabinet (41,5 x 52 cm) at J.B. Henry in Valenciennes, "Printer of the King", with royal vignette and decorative frame, announcing for January 21, 1825 a "Funeral Ceremony" : "January 21 is for all France a day of expiation and mourning" - "Since the Restoration, we have deposited our tears in the bosom of Religion and it is by acts of charity that we have signaled our pain" - The Mayor of Valenciennes Desfontaines de Preux decides : the Feast of January 21 will be announced the day before by the funeral sound of the belfry bells, the white Flag furnished with a crepe will be raised at the frontage of the Town hall (the inhabitants are invited to follow this example), any public entertainment will be prohibited the evening of the 20 and the day of the 21, the reading of the Will of Louis XVI will be made in the Church of Saint-Géry, followed by a quette in favour of the poor and the belfry bells will sound at 11 hours minus one quarter to announce the departure of the various Authorities
