COLONIES - Octave MEYNIER (1784-1961, officer and explorer) - Active in all fields, Octave Meynier was a correspondent of several colonial learned societies and wrote many articles for the AOF newspapers / Important set of manuscripts of colonial studies, Important set of manuscripts of colonial studies, articles, notes for publication, on more than 150 autographed pages large in-4 with folders in his name, Years 1900 - Important file on the "economic development of the Niger Valley" and the "cotton question in West Africa", study carried out at the request of Albert Esnault-Peterie (1842-1913, textile industrialist and President of the General Union of the Cotton Industry), in connection with the biologist Henri Lecomte (1856-1934) to whom he addresses himself in the draft of a letter of 1905, the original typescript of the study of 40 p. is attached, signed in 1906 by Meynier with the original autograph sketch of the Niger Valley - These manuscripts also contain notes or articles on "the indigenous policy in North Africa", "the interests of France in the Sahara", "the new France of Africa" etc. - Joint: set of 6 original typescripts, parts of a work on the Country of the Oases (Algeria and Sahara: Tidikelt, Ouargla), the Country of the Hoggar and the Country of the Tuareg / Joint: Letter of the Librairie Hachette of 1905, answering Meynier's proposal to publish "a volume of adventure stories and colonial impressions".
