Horace VERNET (1789-1863, Painter) / Autograph letter signed - Lot 243
Horace VERNET (1789-1863, Painter) / Autograph letter signed, 1 p in-8, Paris, October 2, 1857, to the art dealer and publisher Adolphe Goupil (1806-1893) : "Having an opportunity for Rome, I would like to give the R.P. de la Trappe a proof of the Zouave. Would you be so kind, dear Monsieur Goupil, as to have me roll one in a stick, so that it can fit into a trunk, simply to prevent it from being crumpled? By the end of the week, I will have finished Daniel. Thus there will be no time lost for engraving" [Horace Vernet speaks of his "Zouave": "Zouave devant le Siège de Constantine" and of his "Daniel": "Daniel dans la Fosse aux Lions", indeed many works of 1857]
