NASA. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE TELESCOPE. In a stunning backdrop - Lot 231
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE TELESCOPE. In a stunning backdrop of thousands of galaxies, this strange-looking galaxy, with its long ribbon of stars, appears to be racing through space like a firework display of pinwheels. This spiral galaxy does not resemble the majestic galaxy images in school books. Its distorted shape was caused by a small intruder, a compact, very blue galaxy visible in the upper left corner of the more massive Tadpole. Tadpole lies about 420 million light-years away in the constellation Draco. Seen as shining through the disc of the Tadpole, the small intruder is probably a runaway galaxy that is leaving the scene of the accident. The strong gravitational forces resulting from the interaction have created the long tail of stars and gas that stretches over 280,000 light-years. 2002.period chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin on the front. 40.6 X 40.6CM with margins.
