NASA. LARGE FORMAT. DEEP SPACE. A pictorial photograph of th - Lot 249
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. DEEP SPACE. A pictorial photograph of the Messier 101 galaxy which is a swirling spiral of stars, gas and dust. This galaxy is almost twice as wide as our Milky Way. The Spitzer view, taken in infrared light, reveals the galaxy's delicate dust lanes as yellow-green filaments. It is in these dense dust clouds that new stars can form. In this image, the dust heated by the light of the hot young stars glows red. The rest of the hundreds of billions of stars in the galaxy are less visible and form a blue haze. Astronomers can use infrared light to examine the dust clouds where stars are born. 2009.period chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin on the front. 40.6 X 40.6CM with margins.
