Draft of an autograph letter signed and 1 Lithograph: Draft of his letter of resignation as Prefect of the Seine, that he will address to King LOUIS-PHILIPPE 1st, made in Paris on December 28, 1830. 1p in-folio. Barrot reminds the King that it is only by devotion that he accepted this function and that one made him hope "that (his) mission would not last longer than the necessity which motivated it". He added: "I believe that the time to return to my usual work has arrived. The Government of Your Majesty has noted its strength, it no longer needs a politician at the town hall, a good administrator will suffice.... " (Appointed Prefect on August 30, 1830, Barrot had also been elected Deputy of EURE. The King refused to accept his resignation, but Barrot finally left his post in October. He became the leader of the constitutional monarchists of the left). + Lithograph (40 x 29) by Bornemann, after a Photo by Adam Salomon. Impr. Lemercier et Cie Paris, 1869.
